Have you ever felt that there’s more to life than meets the eye? In spite of material comforts, do you feel uneasy and wonder what is missing? Amidst the daily hustle and bustle, do you truly feel aligned with your deepest aspirations or are you full of fears and worries? Do you know who you are? Do you sense a need for transformation, a yearning to navigate life’s complexities with greater ease and fulfilment?

In How to Lead a Tranquil Life, Swami Shekaranand shows you how to deal with these questions to make your life fuller, richer, and calmer. Basing his guidance on some of Hinduism’s key scriptures, the Swami’s book offers pathways to transform your relationship with yourself and others, fostering harmony, resilience, and a deeper sense of connection in your daily life.

Organized into eleven sections, the book explores various aspects of the spiritual journey—intention, meditation, compassion, karma, acceptance, devotion, equanimity—while also delving into the relationship between karma and free will, spirituality and science. It also talks about the three foundational Vedic gunas: sattva, rajas, and tamas, describing how they shape an individual’s thoughts, actions, behaviour, habits, and character. Through the teachings of Advaita Vedanta and the timeless wisdom of the Bhagavad Gita, Swami Shekaranand invites you to explore the depths of consciousness, unravel the mysteries of existence, and embark on a transformative journey towards a life of clarity, purpose, and spiritual abundance.

About the Author

Swami Shekaranand, a monk of the Jagat Guru Adi Shankaracharya order, embraced the ascetic path not out of compulsion, but out of love for the eternally sacred, ever-shining, and ever-peaceful Supreme Consciousness. His literary journey, which began eight years ago, seeks to illuminate the roots of humanity’s deepest dilemmas and to offer a clear, three-step path for dissolving the trials and tribulations born of ignorance. How to Lead a Tranquil Life is his first book. Born in India into a middle-class family and now based in Canada, Swami Shekaranand lives a life of quiet yet active public service, serving humanitarian causes as a Vedic monk. Before turning to the contemplative path, he built a distinguished career in international banking—holding senior leadership roles with American Express Bank, serving as CEO of Commerzbank in India, taking on regional responsibilities in Singapore, and concluding as Senior Director with Standard Chartered Bank’s private banking group, Singapore. His spiritual journey began in 2012 with an immersion into Vedanta—the timeless philosophy of the Vedas—alongside the Yoga Sutras. Guided by revered gurus and scholars of southern India, he spent more than a decade absorbed in these profound traditions, with a special focus on applied Vedanta: philosophy not as mere theory, but as a living, practical path to freedom.
