About the Author

Sylvia Tara is an Indian-American biochemist and writer. She holds a PhD in biochemistry from the University of California at San Diego and an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. She was a consultant with McKinsey & Company and has worked at the world’s largest biotechnology companies. Tara began researching and writing about fat after observing that she ate far less than her friends and exercised more, and yet found it hard to lose weight—whilst they remained slim. She lives in the Los Angeles area.
